AI Transparency Policy
Effective date: September 28, 2026 Version: 2.0
Syn is GitSyn's AI assistant. This policy explains what Syn processes and which outside services are involved.
1. When AI is used
AI runs when you open Syn or invoke an AI action in search, a project, post, document, or editor. GitSyn does not require Syn for ordinary publishing, messaging, or browsing.
Syn may draft, summarize, explain, search, reason over supplied context, inspect an attached image through a vision-capable route, remember information at your request, and use supported account tools. Capabilities and provider routes may change.
2. Providers
GitSyn currently routes inference through OpenRouter and may use NVIDIA-hosted inference services as a fallback. Those services may route requests to models selected by GitSyn. GitSyn presents one assistant, Syn, and does not promise permanent availability of a particular model.
3. Information sent for inference
Depending on your request, GitSyn may send your prompt; relevant prior Syn messages; needed instructions; images or files you attach; project, document, repository, profile, or search context you ask Syn to use; enabled tool results; and saved Syn memories used to personalize a response.
Do not submit secrets, payment information, health records, confidential client information, or other sensitive data unless you have authority and understand that an inference provider must process it.
Ordinary direct messages are not sent merely because they exist. If you intentionally share message content with Syn, it becomes part of the AI request.
4. Storage and memory
GitSyn stores Syn conversations and metadata in Supabase so you can continue them. Syn memory is stored separately and can be reviewed or deleted. Deletion removes data from active GitSyn records subject to backups, security records, legal requirements, and provider retention outside GitSyn's control.
Providers process requests under their own terms and privacy practices. GitSyn does not promise a fixed provider retention period unless it is technically and contractually enforced.
5. Tools and control
Some Syn responses can call tools that read or change data in your GitSyn account. Tool output can contain untrusted content. Review proposed actions and resulting changes. Do not use Syn to access data without authorization or evade permissions.
You can choose not to use Syn, decline the AI disclosure, remove memories, delete conversations where supported, and delete your account.
6. Accuracy and publishing
Syn can hallucinate, omit context, reproduce bias, generate insecure code, or misunderstand a request. Verify important facts and test code. Syn is not professional or emergency advice.
You are responsible for content you publish. Use AI involvement labels honestly, review output for accuracy and rights issues, and obtain permission for third-party material. Copyright protection varies by jurisdiction and human authorship.
7. Ranking and transparency
GitSyn may rank feeds and search using follows, interests, recency, content signals, and interactions. These systems organize content and are not intended to make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. The Syn interface identifies itself as AI.
